In the spirit of the season, I wanted to share some of my favorite releases of the year. Such a nuts year for music, with huge leaps of brilliance happening in so many radically different genres! Obviously this isn’t meant to be exhaustive or authoritative; just some personal highlights. Quite a few of these are giant major label releases, so I’ll be taking down those download links quickly or leaving them off accordingly. Let me know if links are broken. Happy new year!

Happy New Year Jen. Having found your blog early in the year, it really has become a favourite. I think I’ve found more new music I’ve loved through you than any other source in 2018. Thank you very much.
I know I value your opinion, as I am always pleased when I see a record I like posted, and I am even going to give the dreaded Enya a fresh listen from the safe distance of 20 years.
thanks for listening and reading, and thanks for the nice words adrian! i hope you have a better time with enya this time around–i know i’m biased, but i deeply love that record :} cheers and happy new year!
happy new year, thank you so much for all the sounds! a friend introduced me to your blog at the end of 2017, and from yours i sorta leapfrogged to a bunch of other blogs also — you’ve broadened my taste and changed the way i consume/appreciate music i think. many of the albums you’ve posted have become favourites of mine; thank you again for introducing me to them!
as a side note, having spotted a talk talk album in your list, i’d love to hear your thoughts on mark hollis’ solo album — it’s a favourite of mine. haven’t actually given talk talk a proper go yet, now’s the time i suppose.
thank you for being here and for the nice words, so happy to hear that it’s been useful!
i love the mark hollis record, though admittedly i haven’t spent as much time with it as with talk talk. thanks for the reminder, happy new year <3
Thanks for a great year of introducing me to so many albums that have become really special in my collection – very much appreciated!
– just grabbing Lorad Group now – sounds right up my alley, can’t wait to get to know it better. All the best to you!
ah, that’s so nice to hear! thanks for reading and listening, and i hope you enjoy lorad group, it’s real nice. happy new year!
Even though I’ve had a copy of Womack & Womack – Conscience on my shelf for years (purchased in another life for Teardrops DJ duties), I had no idea it was such a fantastic album. Been on repeat since this post, thanks Jen!
